Under Divine instruction, the Apostle of Allah married his beloved daughter Fatimah to Ali though others vainly tried for her hand. Among their children, Imam Hasan, Imam Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum have left their marks on the history of the world. After the death of Hadrat Fatimah, Ali married Umm’l-Banin , Abbas was born out of this wedlock and was so handsome that he was fondly called Qamar Banu Hashim. He personified loyalty and bravery and proved it in the battlefield Karbala’

I Take Refuge With the Lord of Mankind.

In this Sura, which is the last Sura of the Holy Qur'an, the Prophet( p. b. u. h. ), again, is personally addressed, as an example to and a leader of people, and the command is:

Say: I take refuge with the Lord of Mankind, The King of Mankind, The God of Mankind, It is interesting that, here, three attributes of the magnificent attributes of Allah; Lordship, Ownership, and Divinity, are emphasized, all of which are directly concerned with the training of Man, and his rescue from the grips of the tempters.

Of course, the objective of 'taking refuge with Allah' is not that a person says this phrase merely with his tongue, but he should accomplish it with his thoughts, Faith, and actions. He should avoid devilish routes, devilish programs, devilish minds and communications, and devilish societies and meetings; and travel the divine paths; otherwise, the person who follows those devilish ways and lets himself fall into the hands of those temptations cannot be safe by only reciting this Sura.

With saying 'The Lord of Mankind', he confesses His Lordship and places himself under His guidance.

By saying 'The King of Mankind', he knows himself as His object, and His obedient servant.

By saying 'The God of Mankind', he goes on the path of worshipping Him, and avoids worshipping others but Him. Undoubtedly, the person who is actually qualified with these three attributes, and truly believes in them, will be safe from the mischief of the tempters.

In fact, these three attributes are three important lessons of instruction and three means of rescue from the evil of temptations which keep Man safe.

Nahjah-balaghah 14

He is from ever and will be for ever. He is before all things without any beginning. He will remain after all things without any end. He is far too great to have His divinity proved by the encompassing heart or eye. When you have understood this then you should do what is done by him who is like you by way of his low position, his lack of authority, his increasing incapability, and his great need of his Lord for seeking His obedience, fearing His chastisement and apprehending His anger, because He does not command you save for virtue and does not refrain you save from evil.

His supplication in Fleeing to God (28)

O God

I showed sincerity by cutting myself off from everything but Thee. I approached Thee with myself. I averted my face from everyone who needs Thy support. I ceased to ask from any who cannot do without Thy bounty.

I saw that the needy who seeks from the needy is foolish in his opinion, and misguided in his intellect. How many people have I seen, my God, who sought exaltation through other than Thee and were abased, who wanted wealth from someone else and become poor, who tried to rise high and fell down low! Observing the likes of them corrects a prudent man; his taking heed gives him success; his choosing the best guides him to the path of right

Company of Prophet:

Ali was always in the company of the Prophet until the Prophet emigrated from Mecca to Medina. On the night of the emigration to Medina (hijrah) when the infidels had surround the house of the Prophet and were determined to invade the house at the end of the night and cut him to pieces while he was in bed. Ali slept in place of the Prophet while the Prophet left the house and set out for Medina .After the departure of the Prophet, according to his wish ‘Ali gave back to the people the trusts and charges that they had left with the Prophet. Then he went to Medina with his mother, the daughter of the Prophet, and two other women. In Medina also ‘Ali was constantly in the company of the Prophet in private and in public. The Prophet gave Fatimah, his sole, beloved daughter from Khadijah, to ‘Ali as his wife and when the Prophet was creating bonds of brotherhood among his companions, he selected ‘Ali as his brother.

Reciprocal Right:

  As for the right of your sight ( basar).

Is to lower it against whatever is unlawful for you [to see] and do not degrade it, except in a place which provides you with a lesson by which you may increase your [spiritual] sight or gain some knowledge, because sight is the door of thinking.(and learning).

Adhan—the Call to Salat (Prayer)

The time for each salat is announced by adhan, the proclamation for salat. At dawn, noon, afternoon, after sunset at early evening, and when it starts getting dark, throughout the Islamic regions, the call with the soul- comforting voice of adhan is heard by everyone. This call proclaims that it is time for salat.


   الله اکبر ، الله اکبر، الله اکبر ، الله  اکبر

                            Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar

(Allah is the Greatest)

اشهد ان لا اله الا الله ، اشهد ان لا اله الا الله ،

Ashhadu an la ilaha illa- Llah

Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-Llah (I clearly observe and bear witness that there is no god but Allah, [the creator of the universe].)

اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله ،  اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله .

“ Ashhadu anna Muhmmadan Rasulu-Llah.

Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Llah”(I clearly observe and bear witness that Muhammad (S.A.) is the Messenger of Allah.)

حی علی الصلاه ، حی علی الصلاه .                                                                      

“ Hayya ‘alas-Salah.  Hayya ‘alas-Salah.” ( Hurry up to Salat)

حی علی الفلاح ، حی علی الفلاح.                                                                          

“Hayya ‘alal-falah. Hayya alal-falah. ( Hurry up to the deliverance)

حی علی خیر العمل . حی علی خیر العمل .                                                                       


“Hayya ala Khayril-‘amal.  “Hayya ‘ala Khayril ‘amal’’. (Hurry up to the best deed.)                           

الله اکبر . الله اکبر .                                                                                       


Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar . ( Allah is the Greatest)

لا اله الا الله . لا اله الا الله .                                                                                

La ilaha illa-Llah . La ilaha illa-Llah.

Ali was present in all the wars in which the Prophet participated, except the battle of Tabuk when he was ordered to stay in Medina in place of the Prophet. He did not retreat in any battle nor did he turn his face away from any enemy. He never disobeyed the Prophet, so that the Prophet said; ‘Ali is never separated from the Truth nor the Truth from Ali.’’

On the day of the death of the Prophet, Ali was thirty-three years old. Although he was foremost in religious virtues and the most outstanding among the companions of the Prophet, he was pushed aside from the caliphate on the claim that he was too young and that he had many enemies among the people because of the blood of the polytheists he had spilled in the wars fought alongside the Prophet. Therefore, Ali was almost completely cut off from public affairs. He retreated to his house where he began to train competent individuals in the Divine sciences and in this way he passed the twenty-five years of the caliphate of the first three caliphs who (came to power after the Prophet; the first by election of few Muslims; the second appointed by the first; and the third, chosen out of six unequal candidates nominated by the second caliph. When the third caliph was killed, people gave their allegiance to him and he was chosen as Caliph.

The Recitation of the Same Adhan Phrases with Little Difference. Directly Before Salat.

On hearing adhan, the call to prayers, a Muslim prepares himself for salat and comes to the place intended for this purpose. Those who wish to perform congregational prayers (Salatul-jama’ah), proceed to the mosque or some other place, which is prepared and arranged in advance for its performance. At this time, before starting “ salat” , iqamah is recitedas follows:

Allahu Akbar, Allahu akbar.                                                                                           الله اکبر   الله اکبر      (Allah is the Greatest)

Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-Llah.  Two time         اشهد ان لا اله الا الله : اشهد ان لا اله الا الله .

 )I clearly observe and bear witness that there is no god but Allah, [the creator of the universe].)

Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Llah. Two time

I clearly observe and bear witness that Muhammad (S .A)

 اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله . اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله .


Hayya ‘alas-Salah, Hayya ‘alas-Salah.’’  (Hurry up to Salat.) 

حی علی الصلاه . حی علی الصلاه .

Hayya ‘alal-falah.  Hayya ‘alal-falah.’’(Hurry up to the deliverance)

حی علی الفلاح . حی علی الفلاح .

Hayya ala Khayril-‘amal. Hayya ala Khayril-amal. (Hurry up to the best deed)

حی علی خیرالعمل . حی علی خیرالعمل .

Qad qamatis-salah, Qad qamatis-salal. (Indeed Salat has started)

قد قامت الصلاه . قد قامت الصلاه .

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. (Allah is the Greatest.) الله اکبر . الله اکبر .

La ilaha illa-Llah . (Threr is no god, but Allah [the creator of all the world.)                لا اله الا الله                                             

How to Be prepared for Salat. Perform the ritual ablution (wudhu’),and then rise up for performing the Salat.

Sahifah Sajjadiyah  (28)

So Thou, my Master, art the object of my asking to the exclusion of all those who are asked and the patron of my need to the exclusion of all those from whom requests are made. Thou art singled out for my call before all who are called; none is associated with Thee in my hope, none comes along with Thee in my supplication, nor does any join with Thee within it, for to Thee is my appeal. To Thee, my God, belongs the Unity of number, the property of eternal power, the excellence of force and strength, the degree of sublimity and elevation. Everyone other than Thee is the object of compassion in his lifetime, overcome in his affair, overwhelmed in his situation, diverse in states, constantly changing in attributes. So Thou art high exalted above likenesses and opposites, proudly magnified beyond similitudes and rivals! Glory be to Thee! There is no God but Thou.

As for the right of your two legs is that you should walk not with them to places forbidden to you; and you should not make them your mount to take a dishonourable path, because they {two} are your conveyance and are to take you on the path of religion and advancement. And there is no power save in God.

Nahjal-balaghah 15

O’ my child, I have informed you about the world, its condition, its decay and its passing away and I have informed you of the next world and if what has been provided in it for its people. I have recounted to you parables about it so that you may draw instruction from them and act upon them. The example of those who have understood the world is like those travelers who, being disgusted with drought strike places set off for greenery and a fruitful place. Then they endure difficulties on the way, separation from friends, hardships of the journey and unwholesome food in order to reach their fields of plenty and place of stay. Consequently, they do not feel any pain in all this and do not regard any expenditure to be waste. Nothing is more lovable to them than what takes them near their goal and carries them closer to their place of stay.

Who whispers evil into the hearts of Mankind, From among Jinn and Mankind.

The term/ waswas/ has the infinitive meaning 'to tempt' and sometimes it is used, as in this verse, with the subjective meaning, 'tempter'.

The term/ khannas/ is derived from/ khunus/ with the meaning of 'to gather, to remain behind', and/ khannas/, here, means 'Satan' because he hides himself at the name of Allah and hiding is with the action of remaining behind, so, the word has been used in the sense of 'to hide'.

Therefore, the meaning of the verses are: 'Say I take refuge with Allah from the devilish tempter who runs away and hides himself from the name of Allah'.

Basically, the devilish ones act hiddenly, and sometimes they murmur temptations into our ears so that we believe that the ideas are our own thoughts. This very kind of thinking causes us to go astray.

The method of Satan is alluring and shows injustice in the form and under the guise of justice; lies inside a shell of truth; sin in the semblance of worship, and aberration in the appearance of guidance.

In short, they, themselves, and their affairs, both, are hidden, and this is a warning to all followers, of the right and the path of truth, not to expect to see Satans in their real form, or observe their activities in their true, crooked shape. No, it will never be so. They are 'slinking whisperers' and their job is to plot,

Prayer (Salat) 12

Salat prayer

Wudu’ the Ritual Ablution before Salat.

First wash the face and then, the arms, from elbows to the fingers; then draw the wet hand, once from the top of the head up to the forehead, and then on the feet. The Holy Qur’an says:

یا ایها الذین آمنوا اذا قمتم الی الصلوه فاغسلوا وجوهکم و ایدیکم الی المرافق وامسحوا بروسکم و ارجلکم الی الکعبین .

“ O you who believe! When you rise up for the Salat, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe, your heads and feet to the ankles…..(The Holy Qur’an 5:6)

Wudu, should be performed with pure niyyah (intention), and for the sake of the Almighty Allah. If any part of the body becomes najis ( impure), we should wash it and also wear tahir (pure ) clothes.

Commandment 31.

The example of those who are deceived by this world is like the people who were in a green place but they become disgusted with it and went to a drought-stricken place. Therefore, for them nothing is more detestable or abominable than to leave the place where they were to go to a place which they will reach unexpectedly and for which they are heading. O’ my child, make yourself the measure (for dealing) between you and others. Thus, you should desire for others what you desire for yourself and hate for others what you hate for yourself. Do not oppress as you do not like to be oppressed. Do good to others as you would like good to be done to you. Regard bad for yourself whatever you regard bad for others. Accept that (treatment) from others which you would like others to accept from you. Do not talk about what you do not know even though what you know be very little. Do not say to others what you do not like to be said to you.
