Fourteen Infallibles 7

Gibbon says: The birth, the alliance, the character of 'Ali which exalted him above the rest of his countrymen , might  justify his claim to the vacant throne of Arabia. The son of Abu Talib was in his own right the chief of Banu Hashim and the hereditary prince or guardian of the city and the Ka'bah.Ali had the qualifications of a poet, a soldier, and a saint; his wisdom still breathes in a collection of moral and religious sayings ; and every antagonist, in the combats of the tongue or of the sword, was subdued by his eloquence and valour.  From the first hour of his mission to the last rites of his funeral, the Apostle was never forsaken by a generous friend, whom he delighted to name his brother, his vicegerent, and the faithful Aaron of a second Moses.

ALTAFSIR KAUTHAR 13

Kauthar 13

In the verse under discussion the term/ an/ is also another emphasis on this meaning and the phrase/ a'taynaka/ 'We have given you', rather than/ ataynaka/, is an evidence to the fact that He has awarded him/ kauthar/, which, itself, is a great glad tiding to the Prophet( p. b. u. h. )in order to keep his holy heart aloof from annoyance resulting from the nonsensical remarks of the enemies, and, consequently, languor does not affect his firm determination, and for him to know that Allah is his support Who is the source of all welfare and grace in abundance.

Supplication:

O Lord! Do not deprive us from the blessings of that 'abundance of good' that You granted to Your Prophet( p. b. u. h. ).

O Lord! You know that we heartily love Your Prophet and his pure progeny( p. b. u. th. ); include us among them.

O Lord! The glory of his essence and his religion is much notable; add to this grandeur, majesty and honour.

The End of Sura Kauthar( The Abundance )

Appreciate my advice, O’ my child, and know that He Who is the Master of death is also the Master of life that the Creator causes death a well; that He Who destroys is also the restorer of life and that He Who inflicts disease is also the curer. This world continues in the way Allah has made it with regard to its pleasures, trials, rewards on the Day of judgement and all that He wishes and you do not know. If anything of this advice is not understood by you then attribute it to your ignorance of it, because when you were first born you were born ignorant. Thereafter, you acquired knowledge. There are many matters of which you are ignorant and in which your sight first wonders and your eye wanders then after this you see them. Therefore, cling to Him who created you, fed you and put you in order. Your worship should be for Him, your eagerness should be towards Him and your fear should be of Him.

   the right of the tongue

As for the right of the tongue is that you should consider it too noble for obscenity; accustom it to good , discipline it whit good manners and keep it silent except in time of necessity or for spiritual or wordly benefit , and refrain it from unpleasant meddling of little benefit, which (meddling) id not safe from harm (compared) to that insignificant gain . The tongue is a witness of mental power and a guide to it ; and its good discipline edifies a wise man in his wisdom. And there is no power save in God , the Sublime , the Almighty.

Know O’ my child, that no one received messages from Allah, the Glorified, as the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his progeny) did. Therefore, regard him as your forerunner and leader toward deliverance. Certainly, I should spare no effort in giving you advice and surely even if you try, you cannot acquire that insight for your welfare as I have for you. Know O’ my child, that if there had been a partner with your lord, his messengers too should have come to you and you would have seen signs of his authority and power and you should have known his deeds and qualities. But He is only One God as He has described Himself. No one  can dispute with Him in His authority.

Marriage:

Under Divine instruction, the Apostle of Allah married his beloved daughter Fatimah to Ali though others vainly tried for her hand. Among their children, Imam Hasan, Imam Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum have left their marks on the history of the world. After the death of Hadrat Fatimah, Ali married Umm’l-Banin , Abbas was born out of this wedlock and was so handsome that he was fondly called Qamar Banu Hashim. He personified loyalty and bravery and proved it in the battlefield Karbala’

Commentary:

I Take Refuge With the Lord of Mankind.

In this Sura, which is the last Sura of the Holy Qur'an, the Prophet( p. b. u. h. ), again, is personally addressed, as an example to and a leader of people, and the command is:

Say: I take refuge with the Lord of Mankind, The King of Mankind, The God of Mankind, It is interesting that, here, three attributes of the magnificent attributes of Allah; Lordship, Ownership, and Divinity, are emphasized, all of which are directly concerned with the training of Man, and his rescue from the grips of the tempters.

Of course, the objective of 'taking refuge with Allah' is not that a person says this phrase merely with his tongue, but he should accomplish it with his thoughts, Faith, and actions. He should avoid devilish routes, devilish programs, devilish minds and communications, and devilish societies and meetings; and travel the divine paths; otherwise, the person who follows those devilish ways and lets himself fall into the hands of those temptations cannot be safe by only reciting this Sura.

With saying 'The Lord of Mankind', he confesses His Lordship and places himself under His guidance.

By saying 'The King of Mankind', he knows himself as His object, and His obedient servant.

By saying 'The God of Mankind', he goes on the path of worshipping Him, and avoids worshipping others but Him. Undoubtedly, the person who is actually qualified with these three attributes, and truly believes in them, will be safe from the mischief of the tempters.

In fact, these three attributes are three important lessons of instruction and three means of rescue from the evil of temptations which keep Man safe.

From the evil of the slinking whisperer,

He is from ever and will be for ever. He is before all things without any beginning. He will remain after all things without any end. He is far too great to have His divinity proved by the encompassing heart or eye. When you have understood this then you should do what is done by him who is like you by way of his low position, his lack of authority, his increasing incapability, and his great need of his Lord for seeking His obedience, fearing His chastisement and apprehending His anger, because He does not command you save for virtue and does not refrain you save from evil.

His supplication in Fleeing to God (28)

O God

I showed sincerity by cutting myself off from everything but Thee. I approached Thee with myself. I averted my face from everyone who needs Thy support. I ceased to ask from any who cannot do without Thy bounty.

I saw that the needy who seeks from the needy is foolish in his opinion, and misguided in his intellect. How many people have I seen, my God, who sought exaltation through other than Thee and were abased, who wanted wealth from someone else and become poor, who tried to rise high and fell down low! Observing the likes of them corrects a prudent man; his taking heed gives him success; his choosing the best guides him to the path of right
